Lieutenant Daniel Clack, 24, of 1st Battalion The Rifles, was leading a 10-man patrol to meet locals in a nearby village in Helmand Province when he was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED).Five of his comrades were also injured in the blast, which took place 150 metres from the front gate of their checkpoint.Lt Clack, from north London, leaves behind his mother Sue, father Martin, brother James and fiancee Amy Tinley.His family said in a statement: "Dan was a brave rifleman and he died doing the only profession he ever considered.
